US Open 2019 - results and conclusions
8:49 PM

It is always sad to say goodbye, but looking back we have yet another successful US Open! I want to personally thank all donors, participants and arbiters for making this a great event.  We had  very strong competition, many interesting, beautiful games which mostly were entered into the Toernooibase.  Everyone was in the best sportive behavior, we have been recognized by the local government, and even weather has cooperated finally for our beach picnic. Good news from FMJD (unofficial yet) that two people have completed the title norms:

  • Munkhijn Baatarsukh completed the norm for the MI title, and
  •  Misheel Bayar one more time completed the norm for the MF title.

The two winners of US Open are Yevgeniy Sklyarov (USA) in the main tournament, and Ricardo Pierre (Haiti) in blitz tournament.

Among USA competitors, the places are as following:

  1. Yevgeniy Sklyarov (10 pts)
  2. Souleymane Keita (9 pts)
  3. Alexander Mogilyansky (8 pts)
  4. Eddy Azimullah (8 pts)
  5. Pierre Augustin (5 pts)
  6. Adeola Showami  (5 pts)
  7. Rudi Azimullah (5 pts)
  8. Francis Sullivan (0 pts)

It was nice to see many US players participate this year.  Sklyarov, Keita and Mogilyansky will most likely represent USA in the Pan Am championship next year.

Congratulations to all the participants! To our former players and guests - it was great to see you again this year, and for our new friends - we are delighted that you have joined us and hope to see you next time!  And of course, big thanks to our donors for helping us with food and prices!

There is a possibility of having US Open being played next year in Miami in December, and we hope to see you all in there - we will keep you posted.
